Fiber LaseEr and sensinG optical componENts Development for future MID-IR application (LEGEND)
Project Outline & Objectives
The LEGEND project is dedicated to developing optical fibre components operating in the mid-infrared wavelength region for fibre laser and sensing applications. The two key research objectives are the development of optical fibre couplers, splitters and tapers using fluoride fibres and their demonstration as the critical elements for an all-in-fibre mid-IR mode-locked laser. The project seeks to take a significant step beyond the current technology readiness level of mid-IR fibre lasers and enhance the creative and innovative potential of the experienced researcher (Antreas Theodosiou) in the field of mid-IR fibre lasers.
