Project Outline & Objectives

The LEGEND project is dedicated to developing optical fiber components operating in the mid-infrared wavelength region for fiber laser and sensing applications. The two key research objectives are the development of optical fiber couplers, splitters and tapers using fluoride fibers and their demonstration as the critical elements for an all-in-fiber mid-IR mode-locked laser. The project seeks to take a significant step beyond the current technology readiness level of mid-IR fiber lasers and enhance the creative and innovative potential of the researcher in the field of mid-IR fiber lasers.
